Digital Wedding Invitations in Zimbabwe: Online RSVP, Guest Lists and Cost
Printed cards or digital invitations? How online RSVP works, how to manage your guest list, and what a digital wedding invitation costs in Zimbabwe.
Printed wedding cards are beautiful, but more couples in Zimbabwe are choosing digital wedding invitations instead, or using both. If you're weighing it up, this guide covers what a digital invitation is, how online RSVP works, what it costs and how to manage your guest list.
What is a digital wedding invitation?
A digital wedding invitation (also called an e-invite or online wedding invitation) is a small web page made just for your wedding. Guests open it on their phone from a link sent on WhatsApp, SMS or email. Unlike a picture of a card, it can include:
- your names, photos and love story
- the ceremony and reception details, with a Google Maps location
- a countdown to the big day
- your dress code and colour scheme
- background music
- an online RSVP form
- an Add to calendar button so nobody forgets the date
It's a mini wedding website and an invitation in one.
Printed vs digital: a quick comparison
| Printed cards | Digital invitation | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Design, printing and delivery for every guest | One price, however many guests |
| Delivery | Days or weeks; hard for guests abroad | Instant, anywhere in the world |
| Changes | Reprint if a detail changes | Edit any time; the link stays the same |
| RSVP | Phone calls and notebooks | Guests reply online; you see totals |
| Directions | Written address | Live map and directions |
Many couples still print a small number of cards for grandparents and elders, and send digital invitations to everyone else. That's a lovely balance.
How online RSVP works
With a digital invitation, each guest gets a personal link. When they open it they see their name, and the RSVP button asks a few simple questions: are they coming, how many seats, and any message for the couple.
Their answer is saved against their name, so you can see at a glance:
- who has confirmed
- who has declined
- who opened the invitation but hasn't replied yet
- how many seats you need in total
That makes the conversation with your caterer and venue much easier, and you'll get an email each time someone replies.
Managing your wedding guest list
A good guest list is the backbone of the whole plan. A few tips:
- Start with names, phone numbers and emails for each household. Phone numbers matter most; that's how most guests will receive the invitation on WhatsApp.
- Decide seats per invitation up front (a single, a couple, a family of four).
- Send in batches if you have a long list: close family first, then friends and colleagues.
- Set an RSVP deadline around four to six weeks before the wedding.
- Send one reminder to anyone who hasn't replied.
On Ever After you can paste your whole guest list at once, send the invitations by WhatsApp and email with one button, and watch the replies arrive.
How much does a digital wedding invitation cost?
Prices vary, but it's usually far less than printing. On Ever After it's a single one-off payment, with no cost per guest:
- Invitation link, $20: your invitation with online RSVP, maps, countdown, photos and music, shared through your own link.
- Link + Email & WhatsApp invites, $30: everything above, plus personal invitations sent to every guest by email and WhatsApp, with Reserve and Decline buttons.
You can pay with EcoCash, and you can create and try your invitation free before paying. See the full packages and pricing.
